Everyday Minimalist Makeup

IMG_0577

As much as I love creating dramatic looks with makeup, on a day-to-day basis all I really want is a flawless and minimalist look – the “no-makeup” effect. Surprisingly this “no-makeup” look seems to require a fair few products (13 by my count … lucky for some!) For the most part I try and use products to even my skin-tone to give me a smooth finish and add a little colour to give that healthy glow!

Untitled designI start by priming my face with Maybelline’s Baby Skin to erase any fine lines and pores. I then apply my L’Oreal Lumi Magique foundation with a stippling brush, making sure it is evenly blended all over my face and neckline to avoid a foundation line. I really like this foundation because it is medium coverage – covering any blemishes but allowing my freckles to show through. I then conceal under my eyes where I get dark cycles with Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer in Ivory and set with the Pale Yellow Sheer Finish Pressed Powder that comes with the duo to prevent any creasing and set the rest of my face with MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Medium.

Next comes adding some colour so I don’t look too ‘flat’. For my cheeks I use some of the Bourjois blush in the shade 95 Rose on the apples of my cheeks, followed my a very light dusting of Benefit’s Hoola under my cheek bone and L’Oreal’s highlight in Rose Boudoir just above. For my eyes, I prime with MAC’s Painterly paint pot and then sweep Urban Decay’s Walk of Shame across my whole lid. I work some of the shade Naked2 into my crease and then highlight my brow bone and tear duct with Venus. I fill in my brows with and angled brush, using Benefit’s Browzings in light and draw a very thin line of liquid liner across my top lashes, finishing with lashings of “They’re Real”!

Finishing touches include a spritz of my favourite perfume Channel Coco Madamoiselle and a coat of Maybelline’s Baby Lips in Pink Punch!

W.O.S-3What are your favourite everyday products? How do you create that flawless ‘no-makeup’ look?
